Generations (8x10)
These majestic creatures have always held a special place in my heart. For me, elephants bring feelings of peace, security, love, loyalty, and play. In the last few months of 2021, as I finished this piece, I’ve had some difficult emotions to navigate through. When my heart ached, I would grieve, and then when I put marker / brush to paper these wise beings would remind me of how much hope, love, and wonder there is in every moment of every day. May the generations of this family also bring you the warmth, love, and comfort they brought to me.
These elephants were started in Sept 2021 and finished Dec 2021. They were created in pencil, ink, colored in Copic markers, and highlights were added using white ink. This fine-art print is 8x10 inches and on 100% cotton, true baryta (barium sulfate) fiber paper that offers the density of a traditional darkroom FB-type paper to hold detail in the deep blacks of the shadow regions, while producing natural white highlights that’s enhanced with a slight fiber glossy surface texture.
Why are elephants awesome? Elephants are highly sensitive and caring animals, much like humans. If a baby elephant cries, the herd will touch and caress the baby with their trunks to soothe it.
