Kit-Kat (baby fox)

For as long as I can remember I’ve absolutely adored foxes, I mean how could you not? Of course, my friends know this about me. So, one day a friend called me and told me that a whopping two minutes from their house, baby foxes would gather every night and locals would assemble to watch them. If I were not in the midst of treatment at this time, I’d have been out there every night. The original night I’d planned to go I was feeling too sick and was incredibly disappointed. However, the next day I was feeling better and the weather was flawless. Coincidentally, I met some amazing people who informed me that the babies hadn’t even been out the night before and this was the most active they had seen the little guys. It was a perfect, joyful night, and even met an amazing woman that is sure to be a new kindred spirit. Kit-Kat was born from one of the wonderful photos I took (photos taken provided below). I hope this piece and the story behind it can show you that when times are tough, even if you feel like your missing out, the opportunities you need will come in the time that’s best, so just stay strong. <3

This muppet was born in June 2021 and created in pencil, ink, colored in Copic markers, and highlights were added using acrylic paint & white ink. This fine-art print is 5x5 or 8x8 inches and on 100% cotton, true baryta (barium sulfate) fiber paper that offers the density of a traditional darkroom FB-type paper to hold detail in the deep blacks of the shadow regions, while producing natural white highlights that’s enhanced with a slight fiber glossy surface texture.

Why are foxes awesome? “What does the fox say? As it turns out, foxes can produce a variety of sounds — up to 40 to be exact. The most noticeable is their scream-like howl, which is sure to send a shiver up your spine. Gekkering, a series of guttural chattering, is also the most common noises made by foxes, especially in a dispute. Foxes, specifically red foxes, are highly territorial. In the event another fox intrudes into its territory, foxes are likely to chatter loudly back and forth in defense of their home.” - Learn more here.

To me, where I create is as important as what I create.
