Midday Meeting

from $30.00

I’ve adored horses for as long as I can remember. As a little girl I was obsessed with drawing them and painting these beautiful creatures brought back many memories. These magnificent creatures intelligent, loyal, playful, and they also have one of the best BS meters I’ve ever seen. You just can’t fool a horse, it’s great. Originally, I’d created this piece for a lovely lady who is an amazing equestrienne. Turns out, you never know who you’re going to touch with your work, as later I received requests from other horse lovers. I decided to recreate the original piece which is unique even though it shares the same feelings for me which speaks of strength, peace, and dedication. It was pure joy (with sprinkles of nostalgia) to hold the hand of my inner child and to create something between the both of us.

This piece was named by the lovely staff at Le Vingt Trois in Northern VA, an incredible French café where I finalized painting the accents. I love having others name the pieces because it gives me a window into what they see and feel.

These muppets were started in July 2021 and finished in September 2021. They are created in pencil, ink, painted in Copic markers, and highlights were added using white ink and acrylic paint. This fine-art print is 5x5 or 8x8 inches and on 100% cotton, true baryta (barium sulfate) fiber paper that offers the density of a traditional darkroom FB-type paper to hold detail in the deep blacks of the shadow regions, while producing natural white highlights that’s enhanced with a slight fiber glossy surface texture.

Why are horses awesome? “Most of the time, wherever a horse's ear is pointing is where the horse is looking with the eye on the same side. If the ears are pointing in different directions, the horse is looking at two different things at the same time.” - Learn more here!
